Bridgestone
Partnership Firestone Building Products and Porter Roofing Contractors

THE CHALLENGE
Renewable Energy & Capital Building Improvements
Bridgestone was pumping ground water through a filtration system as part of a 30 – year mitigation project in Noblesville, IN. Power was needed to run ground water pumps. They hired National Energy Control to design a permanent power system that would run the operation, lowering power demand from the utility.
The Bridgestone America Tire Operations (BATO) Plant located in La Vergne (TN). The BATO operations consist of 2.2M SF of manufacturing and office space. Existing roofing systems for the Tire Room and Creel Room are in need of replacements as they are leaking and out of warranty. Total square footage of these two areas is approx. 48 6 K SF.
THE SOLUTION
Reduce CO2 emissions by 20%
National Energy Control, in conjunction with Bridgestone engineers, built a 150KW Ground Mounted Solar Array connected to the MDF of the pumping station. The array helps lower the need for utility power and provides back up support in case of outages.
- KWH removed annually: 211K
- Clean Energy Stream: 30yrs
- Reduction in kWh Usage: 30%
The scope of this project is to provide a solution which improves the Return on Investment of th e roof replacement capital cost , while at the same time addressing the Sustainability Goals and Initiatives of Bridgestone America.
By combining the energy and tax benefits of solar combined with the roof replacement subsidy , we maximize the ROI of a project while providing a long term hedge against rising energy costs.
